Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings took the blame for Ki Sung-yueng's spectacular opener following his side's 3-0 Scottish Cup final defeat by Celtic.
Jennings felt little imminent danger when Ki took the ball on his left foot 25 yards out but the South Korean arrowed a strike into the corner.
The 31st-minute strike set Celtic on their way and they sealed the win in the latter stages when Stephen Craigan deflected Mark Wilson's shot into his own net before Charlie Mulgrew thundered home a free-kick.
Jennings said: "Their strike I have got to take the blame myself for that.
"I haven't closed him down. In my defence I have sort of wanted him to shoot from there with his weaker foot.
Unluckily for me he couldn't have placed it any better."
